13th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket Championship Concludes at Sports Stadium Kathua

KATHUA, JAN 8: The 13th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket Championship came to a thrilling conclusion today at the Sports Stadium Kathua. In the final match, Hills View Rajouri emerged victorious, defeating Verma Sports Club Ludhiana by 47 runs.

Sh. Anand Jain, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. He praised the Kathua Police, Shaheed Welfare Committee, and the sponsors for their contribution to organizing the successful event. The sponsors included Executive President CTM Kathua, Mega Construction Kathua, Wellspun Gujarat Bhagthalli, President Brick Kiln Association, MD TK Paper Mills Kathua, and others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sh. Anand Jain commended the people of Kathua for their support and also honored the martyr’s families by paying floral tributes. He distributed trophies, medals, and prizes to the winner, runner-up, and members of the management committee.

SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena, IPS, welcomed the dignitaries, including Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, DIG JSK Range Jammu, and other senior police officials. He provided an overview of the tournament and highlighted the sports initiatives taken by the Kathua District Police in 2024-25.

The final match saw Hills View Rajouri, who won the toss and chose to bat, set a challenging total of 162 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Puneet, the captain, scored 50 runs off 48 balls with 6 boundaries and 1 six, while Shiva Singh contributed 33 runs off 29 balls with 4 boundaries and 1 six. Verma Sports Club Ludhiana, chasing a target of 163 runs, was restricted to 115 runs and was all out in just 17.5 overs, with Hills View Rajouri winning by 47 runs.

Puneet was named “Man of the Match” for his stellar 50-run performance and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a trophy. Bhagwinder from Verma Sports Club Ludhiana won the “Player of the Tournament” award and received a Maruti Alto K10. Jadarth from L.B. Shashtri Delhi team was recognized as the Best Bowler, while Rishant Kohli from Hills View Rajouri was named the Best Batsman.

The winning team, Hills View Rajouri, lifted the championship trophy and received a cash prize of Rs. 3.50 lakh, while the runner-up, Verma Sports Club Ludhiana, received Rs. 2.50 lakh along with medals for the players.
