Poonch Feb. 05: A landmine explosion in the Krishna Ghati sector near the Line of Control (LoC) late at night triggered a large-scale search operation by security forces. The explosion occurred around 2:30 AM, following which troops opened fire after spotting suspicious movement in the area.
Sources indicate that security forces are conducting a joint combing operation, given the possibility of infiltration attempts. The heightened alert comes in the wake of a recent attempt at terrorist infiltration in the last week of January in the Poonch sector, where two terrorists were neutralized by security forces.
The region has seen increased vigilance amid intelligence inputs of possible infiltration bids across the LoC. The security grid remains on high alert as the search operation continues.
