Baramulla, Feb 5: In a significant breakthrough, joint teams of the
Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the Army recovered a cache of arms
and ammunition from a hollow pine tree in the Anganpathri forest area
of Uri sector, Baramulla district.
The recovery was made around 1:15 PM during a search operation, with
security forces suspecting that the weapons were meant for militant
activity in the region. The arms cache, wrapped in a blanket, included
three AK-47 rifles, 11 AK magazines, 292 rounds of ammunition, one
Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), nine UBGL grenades, and two hand
grenades.
Following the seizure, an FIR (No. 07/2025) has been registered at
Police Station Boniyar, and further investigations are underway to
trace the origin of the consignment and its intended recipients.
Security forces have intensified search operations in the region,
aiming to dismantle any networks attempting to push arms into Kashmir.
