SRINAGAR, Jul 27: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Kulgam Police—under the leadership of SSP Sahil Sarangal (IPS)—have attached property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Zadoora, Mirbazar, under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The accused, Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir, is involved in two separate narcotics cases:
- FIR No. 85/2020 at Police Station Mattan (Sections 8, 15, 29 NDPS Act)
- FIR No. 104/2025 at Police Station Qazigund (Sections 8, 15 NDPS Act)
Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, authorities initiated proceedings to attach the illegally acquired property suspected to have been purchased using proceeds from narcotic trafficking.
The attached assets include a single-storey residential house (850 sq. ft.) and 12 marlas of land located at Zadoora, Mirbazar (Khewat No. 3), with an estimated market value of ₹65 lakh.
This development underscores Kulgam Police’s intensified efforts not only to prosecute drug offenders but also to dismantle the financial networks supporting narcotics trade by seizing illegally acquired properties.
Police have reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking in the region.
