All Schools in Jammu Division to Remain Closed on Sept 3 Amid Weather Alert

JAMMU, Sept 2: The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Tuesday ordered the closure of all government and private schools across the Jammu Division on September 3, in view of the adverse weather forecast.

The decision came after the Meteorological Department issued an advisory warning of heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides in several districts of the region, which could endanger the safety of students and staff.

In its order, the DSEJ said the precautionary step was taken to avoid any untoward incident during the ongoing spell of inclement weather. It further instructed schools to conduct online classes wherever feasible so that academic schedules do not suffer.

Authorities have urged parents, teachers, and students to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas.

The administration is also closely monitoring the situation as continuous rainfall since last week has caused damage to infrastructure, disrupted road connectivity, and triggered flash floods across parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
