MHA Posts Senior IPS Officer Abdul Ghani Mir to J&K Segment of AGMUT Cadre

New Delhi, Sept 9: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered the posting of senior IPS officer Abdul Ghani Mir (AGMUT cadre, 1994 batch) to the Jammu and Kashmir segment of the Joint AGMUT cadre following his repatriation from central deputation.

Mir, a seasoned officer with extensive service experience in Jammu and Kashmir, was repatriated from his central assignment earlier this month. The MHA’s latest order places him back in his parent cadre, where he is expected to take on new responsibilities.

A native of the Kashmir Valley, Mir has held several key positions in the J&K Police during his career, including district postings, senior leadership roles, and assignments with counter-terrorism operations. Known for his field experience and administrative acumen, his return to the Union Territory comes at a time when the security and administrative apparatus in J&K continues to undergo major changes.

Officials said his exact assignment in the J&K segment will be notified separately.
