Srinagar, Sep 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) on Thursday announced that the Gulmarg Gondola, one of Asia’s largest and highest cable car projects, will remain closed from September 22 to 29 for its scheduled annual inspection and maintenance.
An official of JKCCC said the temporary closure is part of routine safety measures undertaken every year to ensure smooth and secure operations of the world-famous cable car service.
“The Gondola shall remain closed from 22nd September to 29th September due to scheduled annual inspection and maintenance. Inconvenience caused is regretted,” the corporation said in a statement.
The Gulmarg Gondola is among the prime attractions in Kashmir, drawing hundreds of tourists daily who come to experience the panoramic ride to the snow-clad slopes of Apharwat.
Officials assured that services will resume immediately after the maintenance period, once safety checks are completed.
