CM Omar Abdullah attends 58th Engineers’ Day at IEI Srinagar, pays tribute to Sir M Visvesvaraya

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today joined the 58th Engineers’ Day celebrations at the Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre (IEI JKSC), Srinagar, where he paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya and underlined the critical role of engineers in nation-building.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said engineers form the backbone of development and implementation. “Whether the government succeeds or not, engineers play a very important role in this. We may come up with new ideas in meetings and sessions, but without you, they cannot be translated on the ground,” he remarked.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to address the grievances of the engineering community, Omar Abdullah assured that efforts were being made to find a sustainable solution. “I want to assure you all that my colleagues and I are working very seriously on this. We are determined to resolve your long-pending issues, not just through one-time measures. You should continue contributing towards making J&K a developed state, while we will shoulder the responsibility of addressing your service matters,” he said.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled policy briefs and a newsletter of IEI JKSC.

Advisor to the CM Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Lal Chowk Sheikh Ahsan Ahmad (Pardesi), Chairman IEI JKSC Er. Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim and Honorary Secretary Dr. Jahangeer Ali also addressed the gathering, highlighting the contributions of engineers in shaping infrastructure and society.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from engineers, technocrats and professionals across the Union Territory.
