Kargil, Oct 22: Emphasising the importance of nurturing curiosity and critical thinking among young minds, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today called on students to develop a scientific temper to build a modern and innovative Ladakh.
Gupta made the remarks after inaugurating the 52nd Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani (RBVP) State Level Programme at the Tourist Facilitation Centre, Kargil, organised by the Department of Education, UT Ladakh. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and teachers across Leh and Kargil, showcasing creative models and scientific innovations with real-world applications.
“Developing a scientific outlook is key to building a knowledge-based society. The future of Ladakh lies in the hands of these young innovators who will transform challenges into opportunities through science and technology,” the Lt Governor said.
Kavinder Gupta interacted with students and teachers, commending their creativity, confidence, and understanding of scientific concepts. He lauded the Department of Education for providing a platform that encourages students to think beyond textbooks and find practical solutions to real-life problems.
Highlighting the administration’s focus on educational excellence, the Lt Governor announced that 350 teachers from Ladakh will soon undergo specialised capacity-building training to strengthen the teaching ecosystem. He urged teachers to continue shaping future generations with dedication and sincerity.
Students who excelled in various categories of the exhibition were felicitated, and Gupta encouraged all participants to cultivate curiosity, question assumptions, and apply scientific reasoning in daily life. He called on the youth to dream big, embrace creativity, and contribute to building a self-reliant and progressive nation through science and technology.
Deputy Chairman of LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, and Acting CEC of LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, praised the UT Administration and LAHDCs for initiatives to improve educational standards, urging sustained efforts to fill teaching vacancies and expand programmes such as winter coaching.
Secretary Education, UT Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha, reaffirmed the department’s focus on quality education, staff welfare, and skill-oriented reforms. The event was attended by Executive Councillors of LAHDC Kargil, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, SSP Kargil, Principal DIET, Chief Education Officer, along with numerous teachers and students from across the Union Territory.
