Gen Upendra Dwivedi stresses technology integration, innovation and combat readiness during Udhampur visit
JAMMU, Jun 10: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Northern Command headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district and reviewed its operational preparedness, capability development and ongoing modernisation initiatives, officials said on Wednesday.
During the visit on Tuesday, the Army Chief was briefed on a wide range of operational aspects, including the conduct of multi-domain operations, technology integration, infrastructure development and integrated combat readiness across the full spectrum of military operations.
In a post on X, the Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) said General Dwivedi reviewed the Northern Command’s operational preparedness, capability development and modernisation efforts aimed at enhancing the Army’s effectiveness in a rapidly evolving security landscape.
The Army Chief also interacted with officers of the Northern Command and various formation headquarters through a hybrid format. Addressing the officers, he underscored the importance of leveraging emerging technologies and fostering innovation to improve operational efficiency and maintain a decisive edge in increasingly complex security scenarios.
General Dwivedi reviewed ongoing measures to strengthen operational capabilities and ensure preparedness to meet emerging and evolving security challenges. He stressed the need for continued adaptation to modern warfare requirements and seamless integration of technological advancements into military operations.
Commending all ranks for their professionalism, dedication and operational excellence, the Army Chief lauded their unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security and maintaining a high state of combat readiness under challenging conditions.
Officials said the visit forms part of the Army’s continued focus on transformation, networking and data-centric warfare capabilities, with an emphasis on enhancing operational effectiveness, interoperability and preparedness across strategic formations.
Northern Command, headquartered in Udhampur, is one of the Army’s most critical operational commands, responsible for safeguarding India’s northern frontiers and managing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas.
