Shagun Parihar Welcomes ₹2.47 Crore Approval for Restoration of Historic Raghunath Ji Temple in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Jun 10: MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar has welcomed the administrative approval of ₹2.47 crore for the revival and restoration of the historic Raghunath Ji Temple in Kishtwar by the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu and Kashmir.

Expressing gratitude to the government and the concerned department for sanctioning the project, Parihar termed the approval a landmark step towards preserving Kishtwar’s rich cultural, religious and architectural heritage.

She said the restoration of the centuries-old temple would not only help conserve an important heritage structure but also promote religious tourism and create greater awareness about the region’s historical legacy.

“The restoration of Raghunath Ji Temple is a significant initiative for safeguarding our cultural and religious heritage. It will help preserve an important historical monument while boosting religious tourism in the region,” the MLA said.

Congratulating the people of Kishtwar on the approval of the long-pending project, Parihar said the restoration of the temple would further strengthen the cultural identity of the district.

She expressed hope that the restoration work would be undertaken and completed in a time-bound manner while ensuring that the original heritage character and architectural significance of the shrine are preserved.

Reaffirming her commitment to the overall development of Kishtwar, the MLA said that along with infrastructure and developmental projects, the preservation of historical and religious landmarks remains equally important.

“Heritage conservation plays a vital role in connecting future generations with their roots, traditions and cultural values. Preserving such landmarks is essential for maintaining our rich cultural identity,” she said.

Meanwhile, local residents, devotees and members of civil society expressed gratitude to the MLA for her efforts in securing approval for the restoration of the revered shrine.

They described the decision as a historic milestone for Kishtwar and said the revival of Raghunath Ji Temple would help restore the grandeur of one of the region’s most significant religious landmarks.

The residents expressed confidence that the project would enhance Kishtwar’s spiritual, cultural and tourism potential while attracting more pilgrims and visitors to the district.
