Jammu, Dec 02: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a meeting today with officials from NHAI, NHIDCL, Beacon, and Project SAMPARK to review the progress of highway construction projects across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasized the need for these agencies to expedite their work to meet the fixed deadlines, stressing that repeated delays raise concerns about the professionalism and standards of the organizations involved. He directed the Secretary of PWD and the concerned divisional administrations to conduct monthly assessments of the projects and visit the sites to address any issues that may be hindering progress. Dulloo urged full cooperation with the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of the projects.
The Chief Secretary was briefed on the progress of each project and inquired about the expected completion dates and the current status of physical work. Key projects reviewed included various phases of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, the remaining work on the Ring Road Jammu tunnel, and the tunnels and viaducts along the Udhampur-Ramban section, including the Dalwas and Cafeteria Morh areas.
Dulloo also assessed the Marog-Digdol tunnel and the Digdol-Khuni-Nallah tunnels under the Ramban-Banihal section of NH-44. The opening of the Banihal Bypass and the ongoing work on different phases of the Ring Road Srinagar were also discussed in detail. He urged the concerned divisional and district administrations to assist the construction companies in extending working hours to keep the projects on track.
Additionally, progress on road projects under NHIDCL was reviewed, including the Zojila Tunnel, Z-Morh Tunnel, Jammu-Akhnoor Road, Chenani-Sudhmahadev Road, Goha-Khellani, Khellani-Khanabal Highways, and the Singhpoora-Vailoo tunnel. The projects executed by BRO under Project Beacon and SAMPARK were also discussed, including the Akhnoor-Poonch Highway, Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri Highway, Sangrama flyover, and various roads in the Rajouri, Thanamandi, and Surankot areas.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed R&B projects, including the construction of flyovers at Bemina and Sanat Nagar, the rehabilitation of the Chanapora and Tengpora bridges, and the Srinagar-Budgam-Pulwama-Shopian-Kulgam-Qazigund Highway (NH-444). Ongoing works on bypasses in Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian, as well as other road safety and strengthening projects across the UT, were also examined.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary of APD, Commissioner Secretary of the Forest Department, Divisional Commissioners from Jammu and Kashmir, Secretary of R&B, Deputy Commissioners, Chief Engineers of PWD, and other concerned officials.
