Srinagar, Jan 3: The railway network in Jammu and Kashmir is set for a transformative milestone as a special inspection train will operate between Srinagar and Jammu on January 5, marking significant progress in the region’s transportation infrastructure and connectivity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to announce the establishment of the Jammu Railway Division via video conferencing on January 6. The event will also feature Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, underscoring the collaborative efforts at both state and Union levels to bolster regional development.
Ahead of this historic announcement, Union Railway Minister will visit Srinagar Railway Station on January 5 to oversee the USBRL section of the Kashmir rail project. This visit highlights the Union government’s commitment to ensuring the project’s timely and effective implementation.
On January 7 and 8, CRS Dinesh Chand Deshwal is scheduled to inspect the Reasi-Katra section of the Kashmir rail project. This critical evaluation will pave the way for the operationalization of one of India’s most ambitious and technically demanding railway initiatives.
These developments aim to significantly enhance connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, opening doors to economic opportunities and improving accessibility for the region’s people and visitors.
