J&K Woman Elopes with Lover, Steals Valuables from Husband

Srinagar, Jan 10: A married woman from Jammu and Kashmir has allegedly eloped with a man from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, after meeting him on Facebook. Her husband has filed a police complaint accusing her of stealing cash and gold worth several lakhs.

The husband claims that his wife was misled by her lover through social media, which ultimately led to her departure. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The woman, identified as Abiral from Srinagar, was married to Vinod Kumar from Mohali, Punjab, in 2017. However, she later formed a relationship with Faizan Ahmed from Rae Bareli. In December 2024, Abiral left her husband to meet Ahmed, and just two days later, she married him.

Upon discovering the marriage, the husband approached the Rae Bareli police on Tuesday to file a complaint. He alleged that Ahmed had deceived his wife into leaving him and that she took valuables amounting to approximately Rs 5 lakh, including gold, a mobile phone, and Rs 2 lakh in cash.

Senior police officer Shivakant Pandey stated that the woman has expressed her desire to remain with her lover. The investigation is ongoing.
