Search Ops To Track Down Terrorists Spotted Near LoC In Jammu Intensifies On Day 2

Jammu, Jan 12: A search operation to track down terrorists, whose movement near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector was reported last week, entered its second day on Sunday, with security forces deploying drones, sniffer dogs, and other advanced equipment to sanitise the area.

The operation was initiated on Saturday by multiple units of the Army in the Bhattal area, following reports from villagers who noticed suspicious movements near the Jogiwan forest. The villagers suspected these were infiltrating terrorists.

The operation, which has now been expanded with more troops deployed to cover a larger area, continues, though no trace of the suspected individuals has been found so far, officials said.

Security forces have employed the latest technology, including drones and sniffer dogs, to assist in the search. Police teams have also joined the operation to strengthen the efforts.

This comes after a successful operation in the Akhnoor sector on October 28-29 last year, during which three heavily armed terrorists from Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were eliminated in a two-day-long engagement.
