Absconder Wanted Since 1996 Traced by Jammu Police

Jammu, Oct 9: In a major breakthrough, Jammu (Rural) Police have traced an absconder who had been evading arrest for nearly three decades in a case registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.

The accused, identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Gh. Qadir Baba, resident of Khadwani, Kulgam, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 34/1996 under sections 366, 376, and 363 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). A warrant under Section 512 of the CrPC had been pending against him since 1996.

Sustained efforts and coordination by Jhajjar Kotli Police, led by SHO Insp. Vikas Dogra, with the assistance of Police Station Qaimoh, revealed that the absconder was already lodged in Kulgam Jail.

Following the confirmation, police produced the lodgment certificate along with the warrant before the concerned court in Jammu, paving the way for further legal proceedings.

Police officials said the action reflects the sustained drive of Jammu (Rural) Police to trace and bring long-pending absconders to justice.
