BJP Slams Attempt to Defame National Emblem at Hazratbal Shrine, Calls for Strict Action

Srinagar, Sept 6: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the recent incident at Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar, calling it a deliberate attempt to defame national symbols and disturb the peace in Kashmir.

Attack on National Emblem Sparks Outrage

At the heart of the controversy is an alleged attempt to damage the national emblem — the Ashoka Chakra — installed on the inauguration stone outside the shrine complex.

BJP Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi, joined by party leaders Dr. Tahir Chowdhary, Ajay Bharti, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu, and others, said the act is not only an insult to India but a threat to regional stability.

“The national emblem belongs to every Indian, regardless of religion,” Sethi                         said.
“Any attack on it is an insult to the entire nation.”

‘Dangerous Effort to Revive 1990s Extremism’

Sethi warned that such acts are highly sensitive and dangerous, aimed at reviving extremist sentiments in Kashmir, reminiscent of the unrest seen in the 1990s.

He expressed concern that certain political forces are attempting to exploit the situation for narrow electoral or ideological gains.

Praise for Waqf Board and Dr. Daraksha Andrabi

While condemning the attack, Sethi praised the Waqf Board and its Chairperson Dr. Daraksha Andrabi for their efforts in renovating and beautifying Hazratbal Shrine.

He noted that the shrine has now become one of the most beautiful religious sites in South Asia, and accused some opposition parties of trying to turn this progress into controversy.

National Conference Leaders Under Fire

Sethi criticized leaders from the National Conference, accusing them of inciting unrest through provocative tweets and misinformation.

“The issue is being politicized to stir unrest. This must not be allowed,” he                           stated.

He urged the government to hold accountable not only the attackers but also those who incited or justified the act, including political figures.

Pakistan and Hostile Forces May Exploit the Situation

The BJP spokesperson also warned of external threats.

He said Pakistan and other hostile forces may try to exploit the unrest to push their anti-India agenda but expressed confidence in the people of Kashmir.

“Kashmiris will not fall for these tactics again,” Sethi said.

Peace and Development at Risk

The BJP cautioned that attempts to disrupt peace will directly harm the tourism and development sectors, which are finally showing signs of recovery in the region.

“We must send a clear message — no one is above the law, and our national                       symbols will be protected at all costs,” Sethi said.

BJP Demands Swift Justice

The party demanded that the government go beyond filing an FIR and ensure strict penalties for all those involved.

“An example must be set. Respect for national integrity must be non-negotiable,”                 Sethi declared.
