BJP to Convene Strategy Meet in Srinagar Ahead of Autumn Assembly Session

Srinagar, Oct 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called a crucial meeting of its legislature party in Srinagar on Thursday morning to finalize its strategy for the upcoming autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

According to sources, the meeting will be chaired by Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader Sunil Kumar Sharma, who is expected to outline the party’s plan to hold the National Conference-led government accountable on multiple fronts.

“We are holding a meeting tomorrow at 8:30 AM to discuss the issues to be raised during the session,” a BJP MLA told The Daily Guardian (TDG).

Sharma has already indicated that the BJP will mount a strong offensive against the ruling coalition, accusing it of a “betrayal of electoral promises.”

“The government has failed to deliver on its commitments made during the elections—whether it is the promise of 200 free units of electricity, 12 LPG cylinders per household, or other assurances given to the people,” Sharma said.

He further asserted that the BJP would seek answers on the government’s failure to generate employment for the region’s youth. “In the election, the government promised to create one lakh jobs for the youth, but they have done nothing. We will ask them what they have done for the youth in the past year,” Sharma added.

The BJP’s planned strategy session is seen as an attempt to consolidate its position as a strong opposition force and put the spotlight on what the party describes as the “governance deficit” of the National Conference-led administration.
