BSF on High Alert Along Jammu Border, Ready to Thwart Any Terror Infiltration

JAMMU, Oct 10: The Border Security Force (BSF) has sounded high alert along the Jammu sector, keeping a close watch on all movement across the border as Pakistan-based terror groups reportedly regroup to push infiltrators into Indian territory during the coming winter months.

Inspector General of BSF, Shashank Anand, told reporters on Friday that the force has prepared a comprehensive winter strategy to tackle any infiltration attempt, particularly during foggy conditions, which typically pose a challenge in the region.

“The BSF is monitoring every movement along the border. Jawans are on the highest alert, and our winter strategy is ready to ensure no infiltrator succeeds,” Anand said.

According to the IG, intelligence inputs suggest that outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) have started regrouping after suffering heavy losses during Operation Sindoor in May. He said attempts by these groups to push terrorists across the border have so far failed.

“We are in constant touch with sister security agencies and sharing intelligence coming in from across the border. Any attempt by the enemy will be met with a befitting response,” Anand added, stressing that there is no need for panic among the people.

Recalling Operation Sindoor, he said Indian forces carried out precision strikes, destroying nine major terror camps and multiple launch pads along the border and the Line of Control.

While a ceasefire agreement exists with Pakistan, Anand made it clear that any attempt to push terrorists into Jammu will be met decisively. “The government has given us the authority to respond strongly — a bullet will be answered with a shell,” he said.

Highlighting the role of technology, Anand said the BSF has strengthened its counter-drone and air defence capabilities. “The use of drones, AI, and advanced surveillance has become critical in modern warfare. We have trained our jawans through a ‘School of Drone Warfare’ to handle any aerial threat and even use drones to target the enemy if required,” he explained.

On a lighter note, Anand announced that the BSF will organise a full marathon in Jammu on November 9 as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The event aims to promote fitness, healthy living, and identify local talent for national and international sporting events.

“This is also a way to connect with border residents and send a message about the importance of fitness and readiness,” he said.

Anand concluded by reiterating that the BSF remains fully prepared and vigilant, ready to maintain peace along the border while thwarting any infiltration attempts.
