Himachal/ Ludhiana, Mar 12: Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Thursday said that collective efforts and active participation of all sections of society are essential to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
Addressing an Abhinandan Samaroh organised in his honour by the International Vaishya Federation in Ludhiana, the Governor highlighted the important role of the Vaishya community in strengthening India’s economic and social framework.
Gupta said the community’s energy, entrepreneurial spirit and philanthropic outlook can significantly contribute to making India an economically strong, self-reliant and prosperous nation by 2047.
He noted that for centuries the Vaishya community has viewed trade not merely as a means of livelihood but as a responsibility and service to society. According to him, the community’s identity extends beyond commerce and reflects values of honesty, hard work, philanthropy and social welfare, embodying the Indian ideal of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah.”
The Governor also pointed out that several institutions and trusts established by members of the community have been rendering exemplary services in fields such as education and healthcare, thereby strengthening the nation’s social fabric.
Emphasising the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in the modern global landscape, Gupta urged the community to channel its traditional strengths of foresight, integrity and enterprise into technology-driven ventures, start-ups and innovation. He called upon the younger generation to combine ancestral wisdom with modern tools to contribute to India’s economic transformation and help achieve the goal of a developed India.
Highlighting the concept of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, he said every trader, entrepreneur and youth must contribute to the nation’s development through dedication and enterprise.
The Governor also spoke about the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and recalled the life and contributions of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who had opposed the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and advocated the slogan “One nation, one constitution, one flag.”
Expressing gratitude for the honour, Gupta said the felicitation symbolised recognition of the spirit of service and the values that guide individuals in fulfilling their responsibilities towards society and the nation.
Earlier, State President of the International Vaishya Mahasammelan Surendra Singla welcomed and honoured the Governor. In his address, Singla highlighted various social initiatives undertaken by the organisation across the country, including financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to Aggarwal students who clear the IAS Preliminary Examination and are preparing for the IAS Main Examination, besides organising blood donation camps and other welfare activities.
Several prominent members of the Vaishya community, including Harkesh Mittal, Devinder Aggarwal, Dinesh Aggarwal, Amit Goyal, Hira Mani Aggarwal, Dinesh Modi, Dr Sanjeev Goyal, Pritam Bansal and Sourbh Garg, were also present on the occasion.
