Cycle Rallies Held in Srinagar Under Fit India Initiative to Mark Kargil Vijay Diwas

SRINAGAR, Jul 27: In a spirited tribute to the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War and under the umbrella of the Khelo India Scheme’s Fit India Initiative, cycle rallies were organised across Srinagar on Saturday, bringing together security personnel, civilians, and youth in a celebration of fitness, patriotism, and unity.

The Border Security Force (BSF) Kashmir Frontier, in collaboration with the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, conducted a mega cycle rally from Nishat Garden. The event, held to commemorate Vijay Diwas, was flagged off by DIG BSF Srinagar Raghubir Singh and saw the participation of 200 cyclists, including BSF personnel and local residents.

Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of the unflinching courage and ultimate sacrifice of our bravehearts. It is our duty to remember and honour their legacy,” said DIG Singh, dedicating the rally to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 conflict.

The rally passed along the scenic Dal Lake and concluded at the Botanical Garden, with cyclists carrying the Tricolour and receiving rousing welcomes from citizens along the route.

In parallel, the Srinagar Sector of the CRPF also organised a cycle campaign from Lal Chowk Clock Tower to SKICC Srinagar. The event was flagged off by PK Singh, DIG Srinagar South CRPF, and featured enthusiastic participation from CRPF officers and jawans.

Both rallies commenced with the unfurling of the national flag, the singing of the national anthem, and a moment of silence in honour of the martyrs.

The events reflected not only the spirit of fitness and national integration but also served as a moving tribute to India’s fallen heroes, fostering a shared sense of pride, remembrance, and resilience across the Valley.
