Dense Fog Disrupts Normal Life in Jammu Region

Jammu, Jan 2: Normal life in the Jammu region was severely impacted on Thursday as a dense blanket of fog enveloped the area, with the sun playing a game of hide-and-seek. The foggy weather, which had persisted for the past two days, intensified on Thursday morning, covering Jammu city and its outskirts.

According to a MeT official, the fog caused disruptions to air and rail traffic, leading to partial delays. “The foggy and chilly conditions have thrown daily activities off balance,” he added.

Looking ahead, the weather department forecasts generally cloudy conditions on Friday, with light snow expected in isolated higher reaches. A moderate to strong Western Disturbance is expected to affect the region from January 4 to 6, bringing cloudy weather, light to moderate rain in Jammu’s plains, and snow at most places across Jammu and Kashmir.

From January 7 to 10, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with dry conditions, while light snow may occur at isolated locations between January 11 and 12.

With schools already closed for winter vacations, parents have urged the administration to extend the break in response to the harsh weather conditions.
