JAMMU, July 18: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Friday conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation and ongoing anti-terror operations in the mountainous districts of Doda, Ramban, and Kishtwar, officials said.
During his visit to Bhaderwah and Batote, the DGP laid particular emphasis on neutralizing both existing and newly emerged terrorist groups operating from the higher reaches of these districts.
A senior police officer said the DGP visited the Range Police Headquarters at Batote to assess the security, law and order scenario, counter-terror operations, and overall administrative preparedness in the region.
The DGP was briefed by DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Shridhar Patil, and senior police officers from the three districts.
A detailed security review meeting was also held at Bhaderwah, focusing on deployment arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra and strategies to intensify counter-insurgency efforts.
Appreciating the efforts of the civil and police administration in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra, Prabhat called for strengthening the intelligence grid, intensifying operations, and improving coordination among security agencies.
He also stressed on the need to dismantle the overground support networks aiding anti-national elements and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to safeguarding peace and stability in the region.
The DGP’s visit, officials said, underlined the importance of inter-agency synergy and proactive policing to tackle emerging security challenges in the hilly terrain of Jammu division.
