Jammu: The Directorate of Floriculture, Parks & Gardens, Jammu, conducted a one-day workshop on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at Workplace Act, 2013 at its premises on Har ki Poudi Road on January 11, 2025. The event was chaired by S. Jatinder Singh, JKAS, Director General of Floriculture, Parks & Gardens, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General emphasized the provisions of the POSH Act, highlighting its applicability and relevance for government officials, especially women employees. He educated attendees about their rights under the Act and provided insights into its practical implementation. He also introduced the recently launched version of the SHe-BOX Portal, which serves as a centralized platform for monitoring complaints and ensuring compliance under the Act.
Smt. Gurneet Kour, Deputy Director (Planning) and Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), conducted a training session for ICC members on effectively addressing complaints of sexual harassment. She stressed the importance of ensuring workplace safety for women and advocated for regular awareness and training programs.
The workshop addressed key topics, including understanding sexual harassment at the workplace, actionable behaviors under the POSH Act, compliance measures, penalties, and mock trials. An interactive session allowed female employees to raise queries, which were clarified by the experts. Participants were urged to promptly report any violations of the Act to the ICC Chairperson.
The workshop witnessed participation from senior officials, including Sh. Ishtiaq Ahmad Malik, Floriculture Officer (HQ), ICC member Ms. Lakshmi, Assistant Floriculture Officer, and all female staff of the department.
The initiative underscored the Directorate’s commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace environment for all employees.
