Divisional Commissioner Reviews Financial Assistance Scheme for Displaced Persons and West Pakistan Refugees

JAMMU, Jan 10 – Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar chaired a meeting today to assess the progress of the Financial Assistance Scheme for Displaced Persons (DPs) and West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs).

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua, along with the Provincial Rehabilitation Officer, and focused on identifying and reaching out to remaining eligible beneficiaries under the scheme.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed district-wise efforts, including public outreach initiatives, door-to-door surveys, and camps organized to identify left-out beneficiaries. He emphasized the importance of meticulous scrutiny of applications received during these initiatives.

Deputy Commissioners provided updates on recent camps held and the number of cases received for verification. The Divisional Commissioner directed officials to submit properly scrutinized applications to higher authorities for further action. He also instructed that details of processed cases be made public through notices and publications to ensure transparency.

Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Kumar stressed that all eligible cases must be submitted to higher authorities by the end of January for final approval.

The meeting underscored the administration’s commitment to ensuring no eligible beneficiary is left out of the scheme, aiming for timely and equitable disbursement of financial assistance to DPs and WPRs.
