Dr. Darakhshan Unfurls Tricolour in Jammu, Felicitates Sanjeev Pargal, Ajay Jandyal, Tejinder Singh Sodhi, Siddharth Daluja, and Others with Waqf Excellence Awards.

Jammu, Jan 26: In a celebration of Youm-e-Jamhoriya, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, unfurled the Tricolour at the Waqf Complex, Rail Head, Jammu. The grand event, organized by the J&K Waqf Board, saw the presence of Board Member Dr. G.N. Haleem, CEO Zaheer Ahmad Kaifi, Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Administrator Jammu Aabid Hussain, and other officials alongside prominent citizens from various parts of Jammu Division. 

A highlight of the occasion was the inaugural presentation of the **Waqf Awards of Excellence 2024**, which were conferred upon 15 notable individuals, including seven journalists, two lawyers, a social activist, and a media promoter. Among the awardees were renowned journalists such as Sanjeev Pargal (Daily Excelsior), Ajay Jandial (NewsX and India News) Siddharth Daluja (State Times), Ishfaq Gowhar (Gulistan News), Surinder Koul (ANI), Tejinder Singh Sodhi (News18), and Kaneez Zehra (PTI). 

Religious scholars and contributors to society were also honored, including Moulana Farooq Ahmad (Imam, Jamia Masjid Umer, Jammu), Mufti Inayatullah Qasmi (Imam, Talab Khatikan Masjid), Molvi Riyaz ul Haq Noorabadi (Imam, Dargah Hazratbal), Maulana Mohammad Younis (Imam, Jamia Eidgah, Rajouri), Mufti Farooq Hussain Misbahi (Markazi Jamia Masjid, Poonch), and media promoter Irfan Ahmad. Advocates Aijaz Lone and Mohd Iqbal Dar, along with social activist H.R. Rehman, were also recognized for their contributions. 

Best Service Awards were presented to outstanding officers and staff of the Waqf Board, acknowledging their dedication and performance. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Andrabi lauded India’s Constitution as the world’s finest, guaranteeing rights to all sections of society without discrimination. She presented an overview of the Board’s achievements over the last 33 months, highlighting the transformation of Sufi spiritual shrines in J&K through new infrastructure and enhanced facilities. Dr. Andrabi called this period an “era of transformation” for the Waqf Board, emphasizing the Board’s commitment to futuristic development initiatives. 

The event marked a significant milestone in recognizing excellence and promoting inclusivity within the community, further underlining the transformative journey of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board.
