Jammu, Jan 6: The inauguration of a new chapter in Indian Railways at the Jammu division marks a historic milestone for the region, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said on Monday. Describing the development as a significant step for the rural heartlands of Kashmir and the overall progress of the region, Dr. Singh credited the achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership.
Speaking at the event in Jammu, Dr. Singh reflected on the station’s historic first train arrival in 1972, more than five decades ago. He questioned the prolonged delay in achieving this milestone, citing potential causes like administrative inefficiency, lack of political will, and resistance to integrating Kashmir with the rest of India through rail connectivity.
“Was it destiny that we had to wait over 50 years? Or was it the absence of leadership and resolve that held us back?” Dr. Singh remarked. He lauded PM Modi for bringing this long-awaited dream to fruition. “Under his leadership, what once seemed impossible has now become a reality.”
Dr. Singh also recalled key moments during Modi’s tenure that catalyzed progress, such as the significant public event at Katra Railway Station in 2014. Despite technical challenges, shifting priorities, and previous government delays, the project regained momentum with renewed commitment under Modi’s administration.
Highlighting the transformative potential of the new railway development, Dr. Singh expressed optimism about its impact on regional connectivity and economic growth. “This is a historic day, not just for Kashmir but for Indian Railways. It stands as a testament to the fulfillment of a dream that once seemed unattainable,” he said.
Key Takeaway:
The new railway chapter in Jammu not only enhances connectivity but also symbolizes a renewed focus on Kashmir’s integration and development under PM Modi’s leadership.
