According to officials, the accident occurred when the yatri convoy was moving along the highway and a truck, reportedly out of control, crossed both tubes of the highway before crashing into the pilgrims’ vehicle and then slamming into a nearby house.
Police and CRPF personnel immediately launched rescue and relief operations. The injured were swiftly shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur for treatment.
The truck driver has been taken into custody and a formal case has been registered. Police confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the mishap.
