SRINAGAR, Jan 1: In a significant operation, security forces in south Kashmir’s Awantipora on Wednesday apprehended four individuals associated with the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, dealing a blow to its logistical network in the region.
The operation, conducted in Tral, resulted in the arrest of:
- Mudasir Ahmad Naik, son of Farooq Ahmad Naik, resident of Tral Payeen
- Umar Nazir Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Kuchmulla
- Inayat Firdoos Rather, son of Firdoos Ahmad Rather, resident of Tral Payeen
- Salman Nazir Lone, son of Nazir Ahmad Lone, resident of Kounserbal Tral
Police revealed that incriminating materials linked to the proscribed group were seized from their possession. The arrested individuals are accused of providing logistical support and facilitating the transport of arms and ammunition to active Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists operating in the Tral and Awantipora areas.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 134/2024 at Police Station Tral, and investigations are underway to uncover additional links and activities associated with the network.
This operation underscores the continued efforts of security forces to dismantle terror infrastructure and ensure the safety and stability of the region.
