New Delhi, October 14: The fourth edition of the India-Australia joint military exercise AUSTRAHIND kicked off on October 13 at Irwin Barracks in Perth, Australia, marking another step in strengthening defence cooperation between the two strategic partners.
The exercise, which will continue till October 26, 2025, is designed to enhance interoperability, joint planning, and execution capabilities of both armies across diverse operational environments.
This year’s edition places special emphasis on counter-terrorism operations in urban and semi-urban terrains, reflecting the evolving nature of modern conflict zones. Participating contingents will also engage in United Nations peacekeeping simulations, incorporating realistic multinational scenarios that require precision coordination, adaptability, and quick decision-making under pressure.
As the joint drills unfold, troops from both nations will undergo intensive field training exercises, tactical manoeuvres, and mission-oriented planning sessions, aimed at refining their operational synergy and mutual understanding.
Defence officials said the exercise underscores the shared vision of India and Australia for regional peace, security, and stability, while deepening the spirit of trust and camaraderie between the two armies.
AUSTRAHIND-2025 not only reinforces the growing strategic alignment between New Delhi and Canberra but also highlights their collective resolve to respond effectively to emerging security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
