New Delhi: The Indian Army is set to highlight its commitment to indigenisation at the 2025 Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path, with the majority of the showcased equipment being Indian-made. The parade, scheduled for 26 January, will serve as a platform to display the nation’s defense capabilities under the theme ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India: Heritage and Development).
Key indigenous systems, such as the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Akash short-range surface-to-air missile system, and Nag anti-tank guided missile, will take center stage. Also featured will be the Pinaka rocket launcher, which gained international attention with its first export to Armenia in November 2024, alongside the GRAD BM-21, a Russian-origin rocket launcher.
The Army’s battlefield surveillance system, a mobile automated system integrating inputs from multiple surveillance devices, will also be displayed. Advanced aviation assets, including the Advanced Light Helicopter-Weapon Systems Integrated (ALH-WSI) and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), are part of the lineup.
Tanks such as the T-90, BMP-2, and BMP-3 will join an array of mobility solutions, including Light Specialist Vehicles, All-Terrain Vehicles, Specialist Mobility Vehicles, and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles. Additionally, a Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar and a 10-metre short span bridge will showcase the Army’s engineering capabilities. The ceremonial parade will also feature horse contingents and motorcycle displays.
The Indian Air Force and Navy will contribute their tableaux and aerial displays, adding to the grandeur of the event. The Air Force will conduct flyovers with various aircraft, symbolizing India’s air power.
This year’s parade will also include 15 state and Union Territory tableaux, representing states like Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. States not selected for Kartavya Path can still participate in the Bharat Parv at Red Fort, held from 26 to 31 January.
As reported earlier, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is expected to be the chief guest, reinforcing India’s global ties on this significant occasion.
