Jammu, Mar 17: Social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, and seven others have been booked for allegedly consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp for the revered Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage in Reasi district, police said on Monday.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed that an FIR was registered against the accused for “violating the law of the land”, emphasizing that their actions had “hurt the sentiments of people.” A special team has been constituted to track down the individuals involved.
The incident has sparked outrage among devotees and locals, given the spiritual significance of Katra and the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, where alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited. Authorities are expected to take strict legal action to uphold the sanctity of the religious site.
