Apple Launches iPhone 17 Series, Discontinues Older Models and Cuts iPhone 16 Prices

New Delhi, Sep 11:
Apple has unveiled its much-anticipated iPhone 17 series, marking a significant refresh in its flagship lineup. The new range, introduced during the company’s September 9 event, includes the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the all-new iPhone Air, touted as Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date.

Powered by the cutting-edge A19 series 3nm processor, the iPhone 17 series promises major upgrades in camera performance, display quality, and artificial intelligence integration. Apple emphasized that these improvements are designed to enhance both professional workflows and everyday use, positioning the new lineup as a leap forward in smartphone innovation.

Older iPhones Discontinued
As part of its regular cycle, Apple has discontinued several previous-generation devices from its website. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have been removed, alongside the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus from 2023, as well as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. While these models are no longer listed officially, they will continue to be available through retailers and resellers until stock is cleared.

Price Cuts for iPhone 16 Series
In a move likely to appeal to budget-conscious Apple fans, the company has reduced the prices of its iPhone 16 series. The iPhone 16 now starts at ₹69,900, down by ₹10,000 from its original price of ₹79,900. Similarly, the iPhone 16 Plus has dropped from ₹89,900 to ₹79,900, making last year’s flagships more accessible.

iPhone 17 Series: Higher Base Storage, Bigger Options
Apple has also restructured its storage tiers with the iPhone 17 series. The company has eliminated the 128GB variant, with 256GB now serving as the base storage option for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Higher-capacity models include 512GB and 1TB. Notably, for the first time, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be offered with a massive 2TB storage option, catering to power users and professionals who demand extensive capacity.

The company’s decision to shift base storage upwards has led to higher starting prices for the latest models compared to the iPhone 16 series.

With the iPhone 17 series now official, Apple has not only expanded the capabilities of its premium smartphones but also reinforced its strategy of phasing out older devices while making last year’s models more affordable.
