Janipur Police nabs absconder in 2017 NDPS case

Jammu, Oct 6: In a major success against drug-related crime, Janipur Police on Monday apprehended an absconder who had been evading arrest for the past eight years in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Kasturi Lal, resident of Khatikan Talab, Jammu. He was wanted in connection with FIR No. 36/2017, registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act.

Police officials said Kumar had been on the run since the case was registered in 2017. After sustained efforts and a carefully coordinated manhunt, the Janipur Police team succeeded in tracing and arresting him.

Authorities said the arrest highlights the department’s commitment to curb the menace of drugs and bring offenders to justice. Police have also acknowledged the role of public cooperation and media support in strengthening their efforts.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
