UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 26: Javed Ahmed Rana, the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, hoisted the national flag at Boys Government Degree College, Udhampur, marking the celebration of the 76th Republic Day.
The Minister inspected a vibrant parade and took the salute during an impressive march past, featuring 32 contingents from District Police, SKPA, ITBP, and NCC.
In his speech, Minister Rana extended his Republic Day greetings to the nation, emphasizing that the day celebrates the democratic values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. “The Constitution of India, which ensures justice and equality for all, plays a pivotal role in strengthening our nation economically, socially, and educationally,” he stated.
Rana further highlighted the significance of the occasion as a tribute to the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the vision of the Constitution’s framers, who laid the foundation for a secular and inclusive India. “We owe a great debt to those who made supreme sacrifices for our nation. Their contributions continue to inspire all Indians, and their legacy will never be forgotten,” he asserted.
The Minister also paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, acknowledging his instrumental role in drafting the document. “Dr. Ambedkar provided India with a Constitution that guarantees rights to all citizens, regardless of caste, color, region, or religion,” Rana emphasized.
In his address, Javed Rana underscored the diverse fabric of India, urging citizens to recommit to the lofty principles of the Constitution and work toward a more inclusive, prosperous, and resilient India. “We must stand at the forefront of defending the Constitution’s core values, as they define our republic and shape our collective future,” he said. He concluded by stating that honoring the Constitution’s ideals is the truest form of tribute to its framers.
Minister Rana also reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling the vision of India’s freedom fighters by building a stronger and greener nation. He called upon everyone to contribute to nation-building, particularly through addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.
The Minister acknowledged the district administration’s efforts and achievements across various sectors, noting several major development projects that are nearing completion. These include the National Highway (NH-244) Project, Government Medical College Udhampur, Upgradation of Government ANM School Udhampur to Government Nursing College, the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP), Jal Jeevan Mission, and Public Darbars/Block Diwas initiatives.
Prominent dignitaries attending the event included DDC Chairperson Udhampur Lal Chand, MLA Udhampur West Pawan Kumar Gupta, DDC Vice Chairperson Juhi Manhas Pathania, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Rayees Mohd Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai, SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure, ADDC Rajinder Singh, along with senior officials from the district administration, Police, Army, BSF, CRPF, Air Force, former PRI members, and other distinguished citizens of the district.
