Srinagar, Jan 1: Marking a significant leap towards enhanced transparency and operational efficiency, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir has fully transitioned to an electronic challan system starting January 1.
“All ACB branches will discontinue manual registration of FIRs and submit challans electronically through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS),” an ACB spokesperson said.
The shift aims to streamline the challan submission process, improve record-keeping, and accelerate case management. Investigating officers will now be required to complete specific forms within the CCTNS system for every case challan, ensuring comprehensive and systematic data entry.
To support this transition, CCTNS labs have been established at all eight ACB police stations across the Union Territory. Moreover, 18 officials have undergone specialized training to operate the platform efficiently. Supervisory officers have been directed to withhold approval of any challan until all requisite information is accurately uploaded into the system.
“This initiative will not only enhance efficiency but also bring greater accountability and transparency to the bureau’s functioning,” the spokesperson added.
The adoption of the electronic challan system underscores the ACB’s commitment to leveraging technology to modernize its operations and strengthen its fight against corruption in Jammu and Kashmir.
