J&K Govt Constitutes District-Level Committees for Lakhpati Didi Initiative
JAMMU, Sep 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the formation of District Level Steering Committees across the Union Territory to oversee the implementation of the Lakhpati Didi Initiative.
As per the order, Deputy Commissioners will chair the committees, which will include senior officers from the departments of development, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, industries, cooperatives, banks, NABARD, ITIs, and the J&K Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM).
The committees have been tasked with advising on strategy, ensuring inter-departmental coordination, monitoring progress, and recommending measures for the effective rollout of the initiative.
The Lakhpati Didi programme, part of a nationwide effort, aims to empower women in rural areas by enabling at least one woman in each self-help group (SHG) household to earn a sustainable annual income of ₹1 lakh through skill development, entrepreneurship, and livelihood opportunities.
Officials said the move is expected to strengthen grassroots-level monitoring and ensure timely convergence of resources to achieve the scheme’s objectives across J&K.
