Rajouri, Jan 29: In a sweeping anti-terror operation, Jammu and
Kashmir Police conducted raids at 25 locations across Rajouri on
Wednesday, targeting the residences of terrorists operating from
across the Line of Control (LoC), officials said.
The raids, carried out in various parts of the border district, were
part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities
(Prevention) Act (UAPA) against terrorists based in Pakistan and
Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was conducted with
assistance from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel,
officials added.
Among the locations searched were the houses of Iftikhar Hussain and
his brother Mohd Parvaz in Tundi Tarar near the town. The searches,
which began around 9:50 am and lasted over an hour, did not yield any
major recoveries. Officials confirmed that their brother, Mohd
Asgar—also known as “Billa” and “Kaka”—is an active terrorist
operating from across the LoC.
The raids are still ongoing, and further details are awaited, officials said.
The operation follows extensive search missions conducted a day
earlier at nearly two dozen locations across Jammu. Security forces
have ramped up efforts to dismantle terror networks in a region that
witnessed multiple attacks last year. While recent combing operations
in high-altitude areas and dense forests along the LoC did not result
in any direct encounters, officials emphasized that forces are taking
proactive steps to prevent terrorists from using the winter months to
establish new hideouts.
