Srinagar: In a significant boost to technology-driven policing, Jammu and Kashmir has secured the top rank among Union Territories on the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) CCTNS Pragati Dashboard, reflecting a major stride in modern policing and citizen-centric service delivery across the region.
The achievement, as recorded on March 1, 2026, comes on the back of sustained and focused efforts by the CCTNS team of the Crime Branch of J&K Police. While J&K topped the UT category, Delhi secured the first position in the overall national ranking among all States and Union Territories.
The ranking is part of a monthly performance assessment under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS), monitored by the NCRB under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The evaluation is based on key parameters including data quality, timeliness, and accuracy across national policing platforms integrated with the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS).
According to official details, Jammu and Kashmir performed strongly across all major indicators, including seamless connectivity of police stations, full deployment of core CCTNS applications, timely data synchronization with the National Data Centre, and effective integration with ICJS components. The Union Territory has also ensured round-the-clock availability of citizen services through its JK Citizen Portal.
Officials said the top ranking is expected to translate into tangible public benefits, including faster registration and tracking of cases, improved accuracy of police records, seamless access to services such as verifications and grievance redressal, and enhanced coordination across different pillars of the criminal justice system.
By leveraging advanced technology and data-driven processes, J&K Police continues to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust, reaffirming its commitment to delivering efficient, responsive, and citizen-centric policing across the Union Territory.
