Srinagar, Mar 3: The Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) 2025 will be held in Gulmarg from March 9 to 12, following heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir, authorities announced on Monday.
The games were originally scheduled from February 22 to 25 but were postponed due to an unprecedented dry winter that left Gulmarg without snow.
“We are all set to host the Khelo India Winter Games 2025 from March 9 to 12. Top winter sports athletes from across the country are expected to participate,” said Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul.
This marks the second leg of the Winter Games, featuring skiing and snowboarding competitions. The first leg, held in Leh district of Ladakh in January, saw athletes competing in ice-skating and ice-hockey events.
The Khelo India Winter Games are part of the government’s initiative to promote winter sports and position Kashmir as a premier destination for snow-based adventure tourism.
