Kulgam Police Attaches Property of Drug Peddler Worth ₹25 Lakh

KULGAM, Oct 6: In a significant crackdown against the drug menace, Kulgam Police has attached the property of a notorious drug peddler under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, authorities said on Monday.

The action follows investigations under FIR No. 85/2024 U/S 8/15, 21 NDPS Act at Police Station Qazigund, which revealed that the accused, Cheki Badwani, resident of Kurigam, had been involved in multiple drug trafficking cases and possessed no legitimate source of income. Badwani is currently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.

Police found that the accused had illegally acquired a residential house under Survey No. 797 min, valued at around ₹25 lakh, using proceeds from narcotics. Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, authorities attached the property to strike at the financial backbone of drug networks.

SSP Kulgam reaffirmed the department’s commitment to eradicating drugs from the district.

“Kulgam Police will continue sustained action against drug peddlers and those involved in illegal trade. Our aim is not only to curb the supply chain but also dismantle the financial networks behind it,” he said.

The public has widely appreciated Kulgam Police’s efforts in targeting drug peddlers and their operations. Authorities also appealed to residents to report any information related to drug trafficking, assuring that all inputs will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The move underscores a proactive approach by law enforcement to protect youth and society from the growing drug threat while dismantling narco-financing networks in the district.
