LG Kavinder Gupta Reviews Law & Order in Ladakh, Vows Action Against Miscreants

Leh, September 30: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the prevailing law and order situation in the Union Territory following the September 24 violence in which over 100 security personnel were injured.

The meeting, held in Leh, was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, DGP Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, senior Army and CRPF officers, and top officials of the district administration. Officials briefed the Lt Governor on the latest developments, security preparedness, and inter-agency coordination measures being undertaken to maintain peace.

It was informed that 105 security personnel — including 57 CRPF personnel and 48 policemen — were injured while discharging their duties during the violent incidents. The Lt Governor inquired about their condition and directed the administration to ensure the best medical care and full support to their families.

Commending the courage of security forces, Gupta said, “No one involved in acts of violence will be spared. Law will take its firm course, and those trying to disrupt communal harmony will face stringent action.”

He praised the people of Ladakh, particularly the citizens of Leh, for displaying maturity and restraint to help restore normalcy. Stressing the importance of unity and brotherhood, he said the region has always been a model of peaceful coexistence and rich cultural traditions.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment, Gupta stated, “Peace, stability, and communal harmony are our foremost priorities. The government belongs to the people, and together we will ensure that Ladakh continues to shine as a beacon of peace, progress, and harmony.”

He further emphasized that the UT administration would strengthen outreach efforts, enhance community engagement, and address grievances promptly to ensure inclusive growth.
