LG Manoj Sinha calls for youth-led nation-building rooted in cultural heritage

Jammu, Apr 9: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday emphasized that nation-building is deeply rooted in a shared mindset, integrity, and collective values, urging the youth to prioritise community welfare over self-interest.

Addressing a gathering at Abhinav Theatre Jammu during a musical opera titled ‘Mata Sukrala Ki Kahani’, the Lieutenant Governor said that a strong nation is built not merely on infrastructure but on trust, unity, and the moral strength of its citizens.

“Nation-building is a collective responsibility. Aware and responsible citizens shape the future of a nation, while indifference can weaken even the strongest systems,” he said, calling upon the youth to awaken their sense of duty.

Highlighting the importance of cultural heritage, Sinha described it as a powerful societal resource that shapes thinking, values, and actions. He urged young people to reconnect with their roots, stating that a society disconnected from its cultural foundation loses its strength.

“Jammu and Kashmir’s youth, firmly anchored in their heritage, will prove unstoppable in the journey of nation-building,” he added.

The musical opera, depicting the revered legend of Mata Sukrala Devi, conveyed the timeless message that true devotion is incomplete without righteous action, and action without devotion lacks meaning.

The Lieutenant Governor said that values such as truth, faith in the divine, love for the motherland, and the rich Duggar culture play a vital role in strengthening national unity. He noted that traditional art forms and folk practices carry wisdom across generations and must be preserved and revitalised.

“When we revive our traditions through artistic expressions, we are not merely remembering the past but investing in the future. These values equip the younger generation with a strong moral and cultural compass,” he said.

Sinha further observed that India’s diverse cultural traditions, bound by mutual respect, form the essence of national unity and inspire citizens to contribute towards building a developed nation.

The event was organised by Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages and witnessed the presence of prominent personalities, senior officials, legislators, and a large number of citizens.
