Srinagar, Sep 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday emphasized the importance of honoring the sacrifices of Jammu & Kashmir Police martyrs, warning that anyone disrespecting the sovereignty of India or insulting the memories of fallen heroes would face strict legal action. He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 20th J&K Police Martyr’s Memorial Football Tournament.
“Those who speak the language of separatists and terrorists insult the sacrifices of our martyrs and hurt their soul. Strictest possible action as per law will be taken against such elements,” Sinha said. He highlighted that the land of the Union Territory is steeped in the blood and sacrifices of the police, army, and CAPFs, whose dedication ensures security, stability, and progress in the region.
The Lieutenant Governor saluted the selfless service of J&K Police personnel and stressed that preserving the memories of martyrs is a responsibility not just of the forces, but also of the public. “Our brave hearts gave up their lives to fulfill the dreams of society. Peace, progress, and prosperity have been made possible by their ultimate sacrifice. Society can never repay their debt, but must honor our fallen heroes and their families,” he said.
Sinha also praised the J&K Police for empowering youth through the Civic Action Program and interacted with players, distributing trophies and cash prizes to winners and top performers. In the tournament final, J&K Bank defeated Kashmir Avengers Football Club to emerge champions.
The event was attended by DGP Nalin Prabhat, Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP Armed Anand Jain, senior police and civil officials, members of football associations and clubs, sports personalities, and a large gathering of youth.
