Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan Named NDA Candidate for Vice-President

NEW DELHI, Aug 17: The BJP parliamentary board on Sunday nominated Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) candidate for the post of Vice-President.

BJP president J P Nadda announced the nomination after a meeting of the party’s parliamentary board chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The decision was taken after extensive deliberation,” Nadda said, expressing hope that opposition parties would also support the NDA’s choice.

The vice-presidential election has been necessitated by the resignation of incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar last month. The polling is scheduled to take place on September 9, while the last date for filing nominations is August 22.
