JAMMU, Jan 13, 2025:
A grand Veterans Outreach Programme was organized by the Tiger Division of the Indian Army at the Miran Sahib Military Station, Kulian Ground, on January 13, 2025. The event brought together over 500 veterans, including Veer Naris and Veer Matas, in a heartfelt tribute to the selfless service and sacrifices of the brave men and women of the Indian Army. The rally strengthened the bond of camaraderie within the Armed Forces community while addressing key welfare concerns of veterans and their families.

The gathering served as a platform to express solidarity with ex-servicemen, war veterans, disabled soldiers, and war widows, emphasizing that they remain an integral part of the Armed Forces fraternity long after retirement. Senior officials, including Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding 9 Corps, and other dignitaries, were present to grace the occasion.

A variety of stalls and help desks from several welfare agencies, including ECHS, AWPO, Record Offices, SPARSH, and CSD, were set up at the venue to address issues related to pension, entitlements, and other publications. These efforts focused on resolving long-standing challenges faced by veterans in accessing their rightful benefits.

In a gesture of support, the veterans, Veer Naris, and Veer Matas were presented with warm clothing such as heaters, sweaters, shawls, and caps, along with mobility aids like wheelchairs and walking sticks for specially-abled veterans. A medical camp, featuring specialist doctors, also offered health services to the ex-servicemen and their families, further enhancing the outreach’s welfare focus.

The event also featured help desks and information booths from the Handicraft and Industries Departments of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. These initiatives were well-received by attendees, who appreciated the opportunity to access resources in a central location.

The rally was deemed a great success, creating a supportive environment for veterans and ensuring their concerns—ranging from pensions to medical services—were effectively addressed. The initiative highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Indian Army to care for its veterans, both during and after their service.
