Banihal, Dec 31: Police on Tuesday discovered a body under mysterious circumstances in a parked Bolero vehicle along the old Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Makarkoot market in Ramban district.
SHO Ramsoo, Nayeem-ul-Haq, told Greater Kashmir that the body was found on the middle seat of the vehicle, initially appearing to be asleep, by locals.
According to the SHO, the Bolero had been parked in the same spot since the previous night, and locals had noticed the vehicle with a person inside on Tuesday morning. However, when they found the individual in the same condition later in the evening, they alerted the police.
The deceased was identified as Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh, 24, son of the late Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh, a resident of Chandroog, Ramban.
SHO Nayeem-ul-Haq further informed that Reyaz was both the owner and driver of the Bolero, which bore registration number JK19A-7029. He had obtained the vehicle under the Umeed scheme just a few weeks ago.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and further details are awaited.
