Jeddah, Jan 29: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of nine Indian nationals in a road accident in Saudi Arabia, assuring full support to the bereaved families.
“Grieved to learn of this accident and the loss of lives. Spoke with our Consul General in Jeddah, who is in touch with the concerned families. He is extending fullest support in this tragic situation,” Jaishankar posted on X.
The Consulate General of India in Jeddah, which oversees multiple cities including Makkah, Madinah, Yanbu, Taif, and Tabuk, confirmed that the accident occurred near Jizan in Saudi Arabia’s western region.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. The Consulate is providing full support and remains in close contact with authorities and the families. We also wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the mission stated in a social media post, announcing four dedicated helpline numbers for assistance.
