Leh/Jammu, Feb 17: Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma on Tuesday called on Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta in Leh and reviewed the prevailing security situation in the Union Territory, officials said.
Lt Gen Sharma, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Indian Army Northern Command, was accompanied by Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding of the Leh-based 14 Corps, during the meeting.
During the interaction, the two sides discussed the overall security scenario and related strategic matters in the region.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the role of the Army in safeguarding the borders and ensuring the safety and security of the people of Ladakh.
The GOC-in-C reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability, and to upholding the security and territorial integrity of the Union Territory, officials added.
