Jammu, Sep 8:
A Pakistani intruder was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday night after he crossed into Indian territory along the International Border (IB) in the R S Pura sector of Jammu, officials confirmed on Monday.
The incident occurred at the Octroi outpost in Suchetgarh tehsil.
Intrusion Attempt and Arrest
According to the BSF, the intruder—identified as Siraj Khan, a resident of village 27-Chak in Bhalwal tehsil, Punjab province of Pakistan—was spotted approaching the border fence aggressively at 9:10 PM.
“He was warned multiple times by alert troops but ignored the warnings. Sensing a potential threat, troops fired a warning shot and then apprehended him,” the BSF said in an official statement.
Items Recovered and Custody
Two Pakistani currency notes (Rs 20 and Rs 10) were recovered from the intruder’s possession. He has since been handed over to local police for further questioning and legal action.
BSF to Lodge Formal Protest
The BSF confirmed that a formal protest is being lodged with Pakistani counterparts over the breach of the border.
“This intrusion is being taken seriously, and appropriate diplomatic and security channels are being engaged,” the BSF noted.
Increased Vigil Post-Flood Damage
The security forces have already intensified vigil along the IB in the Jammu frontier, especially after recent flash floods caused damage to border fencing and several outposts.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by Indian forces amid natural disruptions and heightened cross-border threats.
